Some factors affecting shale shaker work efficiency

Separation efficiency of drilling fluids shale shaker are influenced by many factors, including materials performance, screen structure, shale shaker motion trace. The vibration characteristic parameters include the vibration frequency, the amplitude, the vibration direction angle and the angle of the screen.

1. Vibration direction angle of shale shaker
The angle between vibration direction and upper screen is called vibration direction angle. The larger vibration direction angle, the shorter distance for throwing materials every time. The materials motion speed on screen is slower, and it will be separated completely so as to get larger separation efficiency. The smaller vibration direction angle, the longer distance for throwing materials. The materials motion speed on screen is quicker, and with high treating capacity, but material can’t be separated completely. Therefore, we should reasonably choose vibration direction angle. For some materials that are difficult to process, vibration direction angle should be large, for materials processed easily, vibration direction angle should be small. Usually, vibration direction angle of circular shale shaker is 90°, the angle of linear motion shale shaker is 30°—60°, but usually adopt 45°, which not only has good performance for all kinds of screening, but also get best motion speed and higher producing efficiency.

2. Shale shaker amplitude
Increasing amplitude will low screen blocking greatly, meanwhile benefit much material layering. But if amplitude is too large that will produce greater damage on equipment. Choosing amplitude should be based on processed materials diameter and performance. Usually, the larger size of shale shaker, the greater amplitude. When shale shaker used for separating, the amplitude should be larger. When shale shaker used for dehydration, dehydration, the amplitude should be smaller. When processed material size is large, the amplitude should be increased correspondingly. When the material size is small, the amplitude should be smaller. In general, the amplitude of the linear motion shale shaker is 3.5~6mm.
