The mud mixing hopper unit is a solids control equipment used in oil drilling solid control systems. It is designed using a Venturi tube combined with the original nozzle. It can meet the drilling fluid needs of drilling solid control systems from 1,500 meters to 9,000 meters. The function of this device is to mix and inject drilling fluid to maintain bottom hole pressure, cool the drill bit, carry cuttings and lubricate the drill bit, etc. This helps ensure smooth drilling operations and protects the wellbore from damage.
Our
mud mixing hopper unit is composed of imported reducing joints, nozzles, tees, horn outlets, butterfly valves, funnels and other components. Its design concept is to use the kinetic energy of high-speed flowing liquid to enter the nozzle from the inlet reducing joint, and then spray into the tee at extremely high speed. At the same time, the added material enters the tee from the funnel, mixes with the liquid through flow, and finally enters the drilling fluid system through the horn outlet.
The selection, maintenance and upkeep of drilling fluid funnels are very important for the smooth progress of drilling operations. Here are some suggestions for the selection, care and maintenance of drilling fluid funnels:
1. Choose a funnel suitable for the drilling fluid system: Choose a funnel with an appropriate capacity based on the drilling fluid circulation displacement. Usually 600~800gal/min is sufficient. If the displacement is greater than 1200gal/min, consider using a funnel with a capacity of 1200gal/min.
2. The distance between the pipeline and the funnel: Keep the distance between the pipeline and the funnel as short and straight as possible. The selection of pumps and motors should be based on the pressure head and flow rate required by the system.
3. Use new, clean accessories: Reduce friction losses, flush the entire system with clean liquid after each work, clean the throat of the funnel to prevent material from cementing.
4. Setting of the workbench: Connect and fix it near the funnel to support the bagged materials. The workbench should have a suitable height, 0.9~1.0m, so that the staff can easily add materials with minimal physical effort.
5. Regular maintenance and inspection: Develop a regular maintenance and inspection plan, check the nozzle and valve of the funnel, check it every 30 to 60 days, and have a spare nozzle, valve and casing brush.
During use, if the spray effect of the funnel nozzle does not meet the standard, the following should be checked:
- Determine if the sand pump can provide adequate drilling fluid.
- Check the pressure gauge upstream of the funnel.
- Check whether there is air entering the air pump seal, pipe blockage, impeller wear and other reasons that cause the pump discharge volume to decrease.
- Check the gas lift tube for corrosion or obstruction by objects.
The above suggestions can help ensure that drilling fluid funnel selection, care and maintenance are performed effectively, thereby improving the efficiency and safety of drilling operations.
