How mud gun works in mud circulation system?

We know mud gun is a crucial piece of equipment in the mud circulation system, which is maintaining the properties of the drilling fluid. Common using industries like oil and gas drilling or geothermal drilling. Usually it is worked with mud agitators together. Then, how mud gun works?

We can say mud gun is a high-pressure nozzle that is connected to a dedicated high-pressure low-volume centrifugal pump via a pipeline that runs along the top of the mud tanks. The centrifugal pump takes suction from the same mud tanks and provides a continuous stream of high-pressure fluid to the mud guns.

The high-pressure mud is forced down the mud gun's pipe and exits through a strategically sized and angled nozzles at its tip. These nozzles are designed to create a high-velocity jet stream.

As the high-velocity jet of mud shoots into the relatively still tank, it transfers its energy to the surrounding fluid. This action creates a powerful swirling vortex or turbulence in a specific section of the mud tank.
